Have Your Say on Proposed Traffic Calming Measures for Bagshot

Bagshot Village Councillors, together with Surrey County Councillor Richard Tear, have been pressing for measures to improve road safety in and around Bagshot village centre. We are therefore pleased to see Surrey County Council consulting on a package of proposed traffic calming and pedestrian safety improvements.

The proposals aim to address concerns about vehicle speeds, through-traffic using village roads as a shortcut, HGV movements, and pedestrian safety, particularly around routes used by children travelling to and from Connaught Junior School.
The proposed measures include:

✅ Extending the existing 20mph speed limit in the village centre
✅ Extending the existing 7.5-tonne environmental weight restriction
✅ Raising zebra crossings on Guildford Road and Bridge Road
✅ Installing speed cushions to help reduce vehicle speeds
✅ Narrowing the road at the Bridge Road zebra crossing to make crossing safer and easier

This consultation is an important opportunity for residents, businesses, parents, carers and visitors to have their say on proposals that could make a real difference to safety and travel within Bagshot.
