Residents may be aware that the final recommendations of the Community Governance Review were agreed by Surrey Heath Borough Council on 16 June 2026. As part of these changes, the current Windlesham Parish Council, which serves Bagshot, Lightwater and Windlesham, will be reorganised from April 2027.
Under the approved proposals:
A new, separate Windlesham Village Council will be created to serve the Windlesham village area.
The existing parish area covering Bagshot and Lightwater will continue as a combined parish and will be renamed Bagshot and Lightwater Parish Council.
The changes are scheduled to take effect from 1 April 2027, with elections for the new councils taking place in May 2027.
At this stage, residents will continue to receive services as normal from Windlesham Parish Council. Over the coming months, we will keep residents informed about the transition, what it means for local services and facilities, and any opportunities to get involved.
