Bagshot Village Traffic Calming – Update for Residents

Since 2023, the Bagshot Village Committee has been working closely with County Councillor Richard Tear to develop a traffic‑calming scheme for the village. The proposal was formally approved by Surrey County Council Highways in 2024.

We’re pleased to share that, thanks to the hard work of the Committee’s Traffic & Infrastructure Group and the valued support of Councillor Tear, the project is now moving forward.

The scheme is proposing pedestrian crossing improvements and traffic‑calming measures along Guildford Road and Bridge Road in Bagshot. The proposals also include extending the existing 20mph speed limit and the 7.5‑tonne weight restriction within Bagshot village centre.

Cllr Andrew Willgoss, Chairman of the Bagshot Village Committee and Chair of the Traffic & Infrastructure Working Party, said:

“The proposed Bagshot village road‑safety scheme has been many years in development, and it now offers a real opportunity to address concerns around vehicle speeds and improve safety for everyone who uses our roads. The measures aim to create a calmer, more pedestrian friendly environment where parents feel confident walking their children to school and older residents can cross safely and comfortably. This proposal is the result of significant effort by local councillors and engaged residents who have worked together to highlight the need for action. We encourage all residents to review the plans and show their support for improving safety in our village”

WPC will continue to keep residents updated as the project progresses and as further information becomes available from Surrey Highways.
