Annual Parish Community Reception 2025

On Saturday 26th April, we were thrilled to host our Annual Parish Council Community Reception, a truly wonderful event where we recognised and celebrated the incredible volunteers who make Bagshot, Lightwater, and Windlesham such special places to live.
The afternoon was hosted by our Vice Chair of the Council, Councillor Valerie White, who warmly welcomed guests and led the celebrations with great pride and enthusiasm. We were also delighted to be joined by our Surrey Heath MP, Al Pinkerton, and the Mayor of Surrey Heath, Councillor Sarbie Kang.
Windlesham Parish Council is very proud to announce this year's Award Winners:
Bagshot
- Carolyn Nahajski
Recognised for her outstanding efforts in organising the Christmas Tree Festival and her dedicated service as Chief Executive of Connect Counselling.
Lightwater
- Oliver Street
Honoured for his significant contributions to the community and his invaluable support for Lightwater Scouts. Oliver is well known for his courtesy and willingness to go above and beyond for others. - Matt and Viv Dodds
Celebrated for their many contributions over the years, including their sponsorship of community events. They are a true asset to Lightwater. - Kurt Ashwood
Commended for his charitable work as the Lightwater DJ. Kurt’s energy and enthusiasm have brought joy to countless community events. - Debbie Jackson
Recognised for her dedicated work in moderating the Bagshot and Lightwater Community Facebook groups, helping to create a safe and informed online space. - Mike Hillman
Honoured for years of volunteering and organising events for the Windlesham and Camberley Camera Club. - Alan Meeks
Also recognised for his longstanding volunteer work and event organisation at the Windlesham and Camberley Camera Club.
Windlesham
- Windlesham Scout Team: Naomi Neathey, Steve Green, Lindsay Green, and Rachel Hobcroft. Celebrated for their dedication and hard work in supporting Windlesham Scout Group, shaping a positive and inspiring environment for our young people.
- Sophie Holt
Honoured for her years of service as Secretary and Fundraiser for the Windlesham Field of Remembrance.
Junior Award: Isla
This year we were especially excited to introduce the first ever Junior Award, and what an inspiring start it has been!
The inaugural award was presented to Isla, a local girl whose remarkable fundraising efforts have touched hearts both locally and beyond. Everyone was truly blown away by Isla’s achievements, determination, and spirit.
Isla was diagnosed with FOP (Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva) when she was just a few months old; a rare and challenging condition. Despite this, Isla has gone on to accomplish so much, inspiring everyone she meets:
- Age 6: Won the South East Riding for the Disabled Participant of the Year
- Age 7: Featured in the documentary film Tin Soldiers to raise awareness of FOP
- Age 9: Appeared on This Morning to raise awareness for FOP and Riding for the Disabled
- Along with her family and friends, Isla has raised:
- Over £5,000 for Quest RDA
- Over £1,500 for Shooting Star Hospice
- Over £100,000 for FOP Friends

She has completed Trike Challenges, participated in several Superhero Triathlons, and continues to support and inspire many amazing friends in Windlesham and further afield. Isla is truly a shining light in our community, and we couldn't be prouder to celebrate her.
