Tree Management and Maintenance - Windlesham Cemetery

The Parish Council has responsibility for trees on land which it owns/manages. In 2017 the Council had an independent survey of all the significant trees within Parish ownership to determine their current health and safety and to form the basis for a long-term management plan.

As a result of the survey, a large red oak in Windlesham cemetery was identified as needing monitoring. The tree was dying off, but was considered suitable to be left as standing habitat for wildlife.

The tree has been naturally shedding smaller amounts of deadwood for some time but it has now reached a stage where it would be dangerous to leave the tree in situ any longer. Therefore work to fell and remove the tree will take place next week (w/c 2nd March).

Work will be carried out with the least amount of disruption possible, but during this time people visiting the cemetery or church are asked to observe any safety barriers erected for the purpose of the work and to be extra vigilant.
