Bagshot War Memorial
Published: 31 October 2019
This week work has taken place to refurbish part of the war memorial at St
Anne's Church in Bagshot. A previous repair to the memorial had failed and
parts of the stone had broken and delaminated.
The war memorial is Grade II listed and therefore any repair needed to be
sympathetic and in keeping with the existing stone. The stone required -
Clipsham stone - had ceased to be quarried in 2017 and we have therefore had a
long wait until an alternative source of stone was found by the conservator,
who has carried out the work this week.
The Parish Council takes care of the war memorials in each village and we
are very pleased that the repair to the memorial in Bagshot has been carried
out in time for Remembrance Sunday.
