Windlesham Village Improvements

Resident’s meeting re: Windlesham Village Improvements
Further to the announcement made by the Neighbourhood Plan task group
regarding improvements to Windlesham village, a reminder that a public meeting
is being held at 6.15pm on 5th September at The Link, St John’s Church,
Windlesham.
The Windlesham Neighbourhood Plan, having been “made” at Surrey Heath Full
Council in June, now forms part of local planning legislation and will assist
in deciding the outcome of planning applications
within the Windlesham Neighbourhood Area.
Part of the initial work undertaken for the Plan culminated in the
production of the ‘Village Rejuvenation Project’ which has sought to address a
number of issues including: the untidiness and apparent decay of the village
centre; volume and speed of traffic in the village and problems with parking.
The original plans were drawn up by PJA – a transport planning consultancy –
who have been re-commissioned for the next phase of the project. They will
present the original plans at the meeting and take ideas, questions and
comments from residents. This will enable them to further develop the plans
based on local needs and wants.
The Parish have agreed to fund the initial planning work. This will firstly
focus on the village centre but will also give residents the opportunity to
discuss proposals for the wider village. The overall project will be delivered
in a number of phases, dependant on funding availability.
Public are welcome from 6.15pm, with a formal presentation starting at
6.30pm, followed by informal discussions/feedback from 7pm.

A formal consultation based on residents’ views will then take place in
November.
