The Avenue, Lightwater

SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL IN EXERCISE OF ITS POWERS UNDER SECTION 14 (2) OF The Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“The Act”) and of all other enabling powers hereby gives notice that no person shall cause or permit any vehicle to enter or proceed in that length of The Avenue (D17) Lightwater between its junctions with Guildford Road and Badger Drive, Lightwater, a distance of 450 metres. The alternative route for all vehicles will be via (C5) Guildford Road; (D18) MacDonald Road; (D515) Aplin Road and (D515) Badger Drive.
This Notice is required to enable Surrey County Council to carry out carriageway patching and/or surfacing works in the length of the road described above. The Notice will commence on 29 July 2020 for a period of up to 5 days however the works are anticipated to be completed within 1 day of this 5 day notice between the hours of 7am and 5pm. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
Access for the emergency services, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. Residents’ vehicular access will be restricted. All other vehicular access will be required to follow the diversion route listed above. In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time, under section 3 of The Act access may only be restricted for a maximum period of 8 hours in any 24-hour period.
The prohibition referred to above will not apply: -
a) in respect of anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform;
b) in respect of anything done in accordance with any restriction or requirement indicated by traffic signs placed on the highway by or on behalf of the Police;
c) to any vehicle being used in connection with the works.
